Transport

Although transportation to and from Zacapa is increasing, the urban center still only has two private bus companies (Transports CASLA and Transports BARDALES). In the outlying towns of Azacualpa and Agua Caliente are Transports ACOSTA and TROCHEZ respectively which pass through the urban center on their routes. There are also several buses from nearby Ceguaca run by Transports HERNANDEZ which serve the city of San Pedro Sula. Also Transports JUNQUEÑOS and ETIMOL operate bus services from nearby Santa Barbara to Tegucigalpa and Las Vegas.

Zacapa is easily accessible by car although if you plan to venture any further into the municipality a four wheeled drive vehicle is recommended. A small sector of the community still uses horses and ways to move from a site to another one. Bicycling is also possible.

The interurban routes are: Santa Barbara, San Pedro Sula, Siguatepeque, Tegucigalpa, Las Vegas.

At municipal level, there are routes towards the Azacualpa, Agua Caliente and Pito Solo (where the Zacapa road joins the main north south highway between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula). This road passes turnoffs for El Mogote, Horconcitos, La Isla y Pedernales y atravesando el Ocote, Los Chorros, El Nuevo Despertar, La Majada y La Ensenada.
